Panorama Tower

Achieving New Heights in Excellence.

Suncoast was given the opportunity to partner with Tutor Perini and Baker Concrete on the Panorama Tower, the soon-to-be tallest building in Miami. Suncoast lent their engineering expertise to the construction by supplying post-tension and Suncoast SRS for 82 of the 84-story mixed-use building. The Panorama Tower consists of 18 levels of parking and hotel with an amenities deck with the upper tower levels serving as office and condominium areas.

Products: Post-Tension, Suncoast Stud Reinforcement System® (SRS®), Tension Repair

Post-Tension Quantity: 1,771,311 lbs PT; 11,253 SRS Assemblies

Exceeding Construction Challenges

Suncoast was selected by Baker Concrete as the Post-tension supplier due to the challenges faced by the construction sequence. In order for Baker Concrete to meet the date of completion, a challenging pour sequence was required and Suncoast met those challenges at every turn. Suncoast provided engineering solutions to build areas of the 18 parking lower levels in phases but at the same time maintaining the continuation of structural elements. Working in conjunction with DeSimone Engineering, Suncoast Post-Tension was the design Engineer for Tower levels 2100 to 8200.

The design engineering services provided by Suncoast allowed for the core areas of the tower to be built in less time to maintain scheduling goals set by Baker Concrete.

Market Square Tower

SUNCOAST PARTNERS IN ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY – MARKET SQUARE TOWER – THE “SKY POOL”

Suncoast was selected to provide post-tensioning, including the encapsulated anchorage system, and Suncoast Stud Reinforcement Systems to the construction of the Market Square Tower. The unique, state-of-the-art infinity pool, also known as the Sky Pool, is on the 42nd floor and extends 10 feet over the side of the building. Tenants and guests seemingly “walk on air” above the busy street 500 feet below.

Application: High Rise Post-Tensioning

Location: Houston, Texas

Services: Engineering Services, Detailing, Logistics

Products: Post-Tension, Encapsulated Anchorage System, Suncoast Stud Reinforcement System® (SRS®)

Post-Tension Quantity: 575,900 lbs PT; 5,680 SRS

State-of-the-Art Solidity

The Market Square Tower was reinforced with Suncoast’s proprietary SRS package and post-tensioning tendons, the 40-story, 463-unit residential community. Located in the middle of downtown Houston, Texas, the Market Square Tower posed a logistical challenge. Delivery and storage issues had to be considered and a strategic plan was implemented to ensure efficient and safe construction.

All of the post-tensioning materials were produced in a highly rated, PTI-certified fabrication plant. The Suncoast Stud Reinforcement System stud shear reinforcement assemblies were color-coded, bundled and tagged by level, and shipped with the corresponding post-tensioning, creating a cost-efficient installation process. A Suncoast dedicated project coordinator was available to facilitate any questions or issues arising in the field

Products and Support That is Second to None

Suncoast approached the project to value-engineer areas to save our partners time and expense while helping to reduce risk. We reviewed and improved upon the contract drawings to minimize interference, while maximizing field labor efficiency, optimizing designs for safety and effective use of the concrete and materials. For the Market Square Tower, Suncoast provided 575,900 lbs of encapsulated PT materials and 5,680 pieces of SRS.

Porsche Tower

Discover how advanced PT products and services made the Porche Tower’s Radial Layout Possible.

Suncoast recently contributed their post-tensioning expertise to the construction of the Porsche Design Tower to stabilize each level of the 60-story building in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. Suncoast’s combination of engineering talent and service excellence helped increase safety and efficiencies and reduce risk in this high profile project.

Application: High Rise Post-Tensioning

Location: Miami Beach, Florida

Services: Engineering Services, Field Services

Products: Post-Tension, SRS Stud Reinforcement System, Barrier Cable, Cutting, Coring

Post-Tension Quantity: 1.25M lbs PT; 6,700 SRS®

60-STORIES OF STABILITY

Suncoast’s proprietary SRS® package and post-tensioning tendons were used to reinforce the Porche Design Tower, the 60-story, $560-million residential condominium. Nestled in the heart of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida, the Porche Tower will include the first automated vehicle elevator parking system used in a private condominium project in the US.

This project posed multiple challenges; a workable concrete pour sequence was needed for the building’s three core areas, at a rate of one floor per six days. To satisfy this rapid schedule, the team placed each elevator/stair core in a separate pour on each floor, then used interior stressing blockouts for stressing portions of the banded ring beam tendons. This enabled the setting of complex vertical formwork in segment one; the slab reinforcing, Suncoast SRS® and PT to be set in segment two; and slab formwork to be placed in segment three – enabling all trades to work every day during the floor cycle.

Unbonded PT System Benefits:

  • Efficient and cost effective reinforcement
  • Allows for reduced slab thickness
  • Enables lower overall building height
  • Improved deflection control

Reliable Reinforcement, Revolutionary Design

Suncoast SRS® package includes carbon steel and factory-welded Nelson Punching Shear Resistor studs, used in the flat-reinforced concrete slabs and footings in the Porche Design Tower.

  • Punching sheer resistance can replace or supplement stirrups, drop panels or column capitals

Suncoast’s unbonded post-tensioning system provides an efficient and cost-effective reinforcing system for elevated slabs. For the Porche Design Tower, Suncoast provided 1.25M lbs of encapsulated PT materials and 6,700 pieces of SRS.
